While the computer is booting the tuxbox logo will be displayed fullscreen with tux the penguin inside the logo. The ether, white river in the bottom screenshot, will be flowing under the logo. Tux will jump out of the logo as it breaks up in pieces and then reassembles as a smaller version in the upper left corner of the screen and tux will jump back in it. The eleven icon buttons will then fly out onto the screen and yellow pieces will come out of the icons and lock them together. The ether will continue to flow during the entire boot process and while the menu is displayed.

When an icon is selected with the direction pad it will turn yellow and if selected for more than a few seconds tux will say either the name of the icon or a short description using a text-to-speech convertor. Tux will also step out of the icon and move around while talking.

When an app is launched the yellow pieces will retract back into the icons and they will fly off the screen. The application components (panels, buttons, views, input boxes, scrollbars, etc) will then fly out and assemble on the screen. If the app does not use the entire screen then the ether will flow under it.
